It’s Hard To Have Friends

When you are a parent and work full time. Make sure guilt is not the reason you don’t spend enough time with your friends.

Pay attention to it. That little voice in the back of your head that’s talking to you when you pass up the chance to do something with your friends. Especially pay attention to this little voice if you are a parent or caregiver because, in my own life experience, there’s a good chance that little voice is the voice of guilt.

I’m going to make this article short, very short in fact, but I think the topic of guilt is super important if you are a parent or caregiver.

I’ve had to learn this lesson the hard way, after many years of marriage and being a father; Don’t let guilt run your social life (or lack thereof).

It took me years to realize that oftentimes, I would avoid doing things with my friends because it mean taking time away from my family; time which could have been spent helping my wife or helping my children, all because I felt guilty.

Don’t fall into the guilt trap.

You deserve (and so does your family) to live a happy and balanced life, and at the very least, you deserve to strive every day to live a happy and balanced life. To that end, maintaining (and even building new) friendships is paramount (in my humble opinion). Friendships are…
